A second embargo of the season placed upon Morecambe has now been lifted

The latest embargo placed upon Morecambe has now been removed.

Morecambe have said the latest National League embargo to be placed upon the club has now been lifted.

The Shrimps had confirmed on Tuesday that a second embargo of the season - and a fourth this calendar year - was in force.

That was imposed on October 26 for what was described on the National League website as ‘non-compliance with league financial regulations - football creditors’.

However, Morecambe uploaded a brief statement to their website on Friday morning to say the embargo had now been removed as Adam Lakeland’s players prepare to face Hednesford Town in National League North tomorrow.

It said: “Morecambe Football Club is pleased to confirm that the National League removed the player registration embargo earlier this morning.

“The embargo was announced three days ago. Its removal means the restriction on registering players has been lifted.”
