John Waite - who shot to fame during the 1980s with his number one hit Missing You - said the Wood Heart albums had been an ongoing set of releases for the last few years.

John, who lives in Santa Monica, but was born in Lancaster, attended Lancaster Royal Grammar School, and regularly returns to the city to visit his mum, said that he was hoping to tour Europe at the end of the year.

This so far includes ten shows in The Netherlands.

He said: "You can cut a whole album in a couple of days so you can capture the moment and keep things spontaneous.

"I’ve always been drawn to the acoustic guitar and it seemed an easy way to get music out to people during lockdown.

"The Dylan song 'Not Dark Yet' was a big song to take on but being from Lancaster I’m not afraid of a challenge!

"Things seem to be opening up again and we are planing a tour of Europe at the end of the year.

The Wooden Heart Acoustic Anthology is available on all platforms now.

"Fingers crossed we can make that happen! It will be great to hit the road again."

John became a US citizen in 2018.
