A butchers in Kirkby Lonsdale has scooped a national title at the UK Sausage Week awards
Kirkby Lonsdale's Dales Traditional Butchers has been officially crowned as the maker of the Best Beef Sausage in the United Kingdom.
The beloved Kirkby Lonsdale independent butcher took home the prestigious category title for its innovative Beef & Marmite Sausage at the UK Sausage Week Awards 2026, held at the historic Butchers Hall in London.
Up against major names and fierce competition from across the country, the small, family-run shop stood out to the expert judging panel for its exceptional craft, premium ingredients, and bold flavour profile.
Mark Duckworth, owner of Dales Traditional Butchers, said: "We are absolutely over the moon. For a small independent butcher in Kirkby Lonsdale to win a national title is a complete dream come true.
“When we saw the shortlist and realized we had five different sausages in the finals, we had to read it twice.
“To walk away with the top trophy for our Beef & Marmite recipe is testament to the incredible hard work our team puts in every single day.
“We nearly didn't make it to the ceremony after a three hour train delay, but we arrived just in time to collect the award.

The victory adds to a growing list of accolades for the Kirkby Lonsdale butcher, which has previously taken home major honours including Britain's Best Butchers Shop and the 2023 Champion of Champions sausage title.
