Green light for new six-court indoor padel centre in Lancaster

New firm P4 Padel is set to bring six courts, competition and a whole new sporting experience to Lancaster.

A six-court indoor centre is to open at Lune Business Park near St George’s Quay after planning permission was granted.

Lune Business Park owners, property group Hurstwood Holdings, submitted the application for the facility earlier this year.

And Lancaster City Council has now granted retrospective planning permission to demolish an existing building at Brockbank Avenue on the £40m business park, and build a replacement building for flexible use, including indoor sport and recreation.

The building will be fitted out and operated by P4 Padel, a new venture founded by Harry Walker.

P4 Padel is bringing Lancaster’s first dedicated padel facility to the city, with six purpose-built courts – four doubles courts and two singles courts.

It’s being created as a new sporting and social destination for Lancaster, giving people the opportunity to play, compete, get active and meet new people – whether they’re already passionate about padel or have never picked up a padel before.

The launch date will be announced soon, but people can register their interest now at www.P4Padel.co.uk to be kept up to date.

Harry said: “We are excited about the opportunity, in a great city that has no padel facilities to date – we can’t wait to get started.

"Building is well under way and we are trying to use local businesses to deliver our club, keeping our investment in the local economy.”

Meanwhile, plans for outdoor padel courts at Salt Ayre Sports Centre were revealed earlier this month.

A planning application by Soul Padel Ltd is awaiting a decision from Lancaster City Council.

Soul Padel Ltd is asking for full planning permission for the construction of three outdoor padel courts with rain canopies, boundary fencing and an associated clubhouse facility.
