New chapter for Morecambe car dealership
A Morecambe car dealership has taken another major step forward with the arrival of BYD, one of the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers.
The new BYD dealership will join Cox Motor Group’s established automotive presence in the Lancaster and Morecambe area, which already brings together an impressive collection of household names including Volkswagen, Honda, MG and Automart, creating one of the area’s most comprehensive destinations for motorists.
The announcement represents the latest chapter in the growth of the family-owned Cox Motor Group, which has been developing its presence across the North West for more than two decades.
Founded in 2000 by managing director David Cox, Cox Motor Group began with a single Honda dealership in Lancaster and Morecambe.
From those beginnings, the business has grown into a substantial regional automotive group representing a growing portfolio of brands across Lancashire and Cumbria.
That expansion has continued in recent years, with Cox Motor Group investing heavily in new facilities, new brands and new opportunities for motorists across the region.
In Blackpool, Cox Motor Group has recently added both Chery and XPENG to its existing automotive operation, alongside established brands including SEAT and Honda.
The Blackpool developments have further strengthened Cox Motor Group's reputation for identifying exciting new automotive brands and bringing them to motorists across the North West.
The company's decision to represent BYD is another significant milestone.
BYD has rapidly established itself as one of the most recognisable names in the global electric and electrified vehicle market.
The brand began UK sales in 2023 and has since expanded from its initial offering into a wide-ranging line-up of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
BYD announced in July 2026 that it had surpassed 100,000 UK vehicle registrations.
