Annual charity Halloween display in Morecambe promoted by Ghostbusters actress

A superb Halloween display for charity in Morecambe is being promoted by an actress in the original Ghostbusters films.

Annie Potts, who played secretary Janine Melnitz in Ghostbusters One and Two, talks about the South Road, Morecambe Halloween display in a video filmed in the US.

Chris Dickson from Morecambe transforms his garden on South Road into a ghoulish grotto for Halloween every year and this year’s display is bigger and better than ever.

Chris said: “Be prepared for our biggest display ever! Will the Lancaster Ghostbusters defeat the evil ghost scarecrow? Join us to see the result at The Haunting at 80, South Road, on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31 from 5.30pm until 8pm.

"The fabulous Emily and Mark from BB’s snack bar will also be there, plus live actors will be handing out sweets. Be there if you dare!”

Chris does a Halloween display every year in aid of CancerCare and has raised hundreds of pounds over the years for the charity.

He said: “Having both myself and my wife having and battling cancer the local charity supported us through our whole cancer journey.

" I had bladder cancer several years ago, and the support they gave us as a family really really got us through such a struggle.

"My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago and again CancerCare stepped up and supported us as a family even giving our 15-year-old daughter Maisy fabulous support and care.

“This event is our way of giving back to the team at CancerCare that support people throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria, living with this horrendous disease.

“We have been creating this event for over five years now, and it's become such a huge event in Lancashire, people travel far and wide to attend the spooky few nights.

"We have live actors and so many amitronics the display is incredible. We would love for you to come down and share our special event.”

Simon Hogg from Lancaster Ghostbusters said: “We are helping Chris Dickson who runs the Haunting of 80 South Road Halloween display in aid of CancerCare.

"We were able to organise with Annie Potts for her to do a video promoting the event. Annie Potts was in the first two Ghostbusters movies and also returned for the new movies.

"She has also been in lots of other things. Certainly a big name to be promoting our little event in Morecambe. This year's display is going to be better then ever.”
