“I’m over the moon to join such a massive club”: Everton defender completes Morecambe loan move

Morecambe fill a gap in the defensive ranks at the Halo Aerospace Stadium

Morecambe have plugged a hole in their defensive ranks with the loan signing of Everton youngster Luca Davis.

The 20-year-old, who can play in the centre of defence or at right-back, has agreed a move to the Halo Aerospace Stadium until January 2027.

It is the first loan move away from Everton for Davis, who joined the club from Bury’s Academy at the age of 13.

Having played for Everton at U18 and U21 level, he signed a first professional contract with them in July 2025.

He made 16 appearances in Premier League 2, the National League Cup and the Premier League International Cup last season, with another five matches under his belt this time around.

He said: “I’m over the moon to join such a massive club. I was attracted by Morecambe’s style of play and the size of the club.

“I’m excited to make a difference on the pitch and help get the Shrimps back to where they belong.”

Davis’ arrival comes after Morecambe boss Adam Lakeland had said defensive cover was needed with Will Smith confirmed as being out for five months and Liam Hogan forced off at half-time in last week’s National League North loss at Worksop Town.

That had left Lewis Baines as the only fully fit recognised central defender ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup tie at AFC Rushden and Diamonds.
