Hide AdDan Willan (Carnforth) and top ‘classic’ navigator Martyn Taylor were using a Volvo PV544, quite a large car for some of the tests and terrain.
After an average day on Saturday, the crew found themselves in 10th overall.
However, the Sunday route headed north of the Borders and into the areas used by the fabled Jim Clark Rally.

Hide AdThe route flowed more easily and contained many gravel surfaces which allowed the crew to better utilise the Volvo’s attributes.
Regularity 2 was a monster 2o+ miles – mostly over gravel tracks, swirling dust clouds indicating competitors progress.
With historic cars such as powerful Porsche 911’s, competition was fierce, however the manoeuvrability of the many Mini variants saw times keeping close among the field.
Final results saw the Willan/Taylor Volvo finish fourth overall and second in the H1 Class.
