Fundraiser launched for cat critically injured in Morecambe hit and run
A family in Morecambe have launched a fundraiser for their much-loved cat Timmy after he was critically injured in a hit and run.
Owner Helen Mather said: “We live in the West End of Morecambe and our cat Timmy was last seen on Wednesday, October 29. On Halloween he was horrifically injured in what the vets believe was a hit and run. He made his way home with a completely broken pelvis and a bladder so badly affected that it was close to bursting. He has also potentially suffered nerve and kidney damage.
"We were devastated to discover the extent of his injuries.
“My children are absolutely heartbroken that he’s not home with us and our family is beyond upset that someone could hit him and drive away.

"The vet said it was high speed or fully run over the top of so they must have known they had hit him surely.
"On my street cars are known to drive fast so people need to be aware of the consequences and the heartbreak it can leave families in.
“He’s currently under the care of specialist vets Kentdale Referrals and, despite everything he’s been through, is fighting incredibly hard.
"He’s eating, walking and showing everyone just how much of a little fighter he is.

"The vets are hopeful that he has a good chance of recovery with the right treatment, but he still requires specialist veterinary care and potentially major surgery to repair his pelvis.
“The costs have already reached thousands of pounds, with emergency treatment, catheterisation, blood tests, X-rays, overnight stays and ongoing specialist care.
"Unfortunately, the bills are continuing to increase while he remains in hospital, and the potential cost of further treatment and surgery is extremely daunting.
"He is adored by our whole family and we desperately want to give him every chance of coming home.
“We completely understand that times are difficult for everyone, but if anybody is able to donate even the smallest amount, it would mean the absolute world to us and help ease some of the financial pressure on the family during this incredibly upsetting time.”
