Nolan makes it a top twenty for boss Marshall at Lancaster
Lancaster City FC have announced their sixth summer signing but manager Jimmy Marshall also made of point of praising the club's more familiar faces.
Latest recruit James Nolan, 20, can play across the back four or in midfield and made 20 appearances for North West Counties League club Charnock Richard last season.

A Manchester United youth product, Nolan played four times for the club's Under-21s in the EFL Trophy before spending 2024/25 on loan at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, making 30 appearances in Scottish League One. He then started last season with Marine in National League North.
Nolan follows James Bailey, Tom Bentley-Waite, Callum Leigh, Sekouba Sanogo and Matthew Tweedley in making the Giant Axe his home this summer.
Their arrivals take the senior squad to 20 and Marshall showed his gratitude to those who have continued their commitment.
He told the club's media team: “You always need to freshen things up slightly and I think our summer recruitment so far has been really good.
“However, I think the biggest job this summer was always going to be to tie down the existing players, who have served us so well since we came to the club and performed so brilliantly last season.
“Despite most of them having offers elsewhere from clubs with significant resources, they have chosen to remain with us.
“I think that not only shows what we have in our dressing room but also that they believe in the project at the club. I thank them all for their continued loyalty.”
The 14 remaining on board are: Joe Amison, Charlie Bailey, Sam Bailey, Nathan Caine, Jim Craig, Nic Evangelinos, Simon Grand, Brad Kelly, Dom Lawson, Lewis Mansell, Dylan Moonan, Toby Oliver, Dylan Thompson and Steven Yawson.
As previously announced, Pat Allington, Aaron Bennett, Bobby Bjork, Matty Clarke, Lewis Coulton, Charlie Cox, Jay Mellen, Christian Sloan and Jack Wright have all moved on.
As for Nolan, whose brother Ed played for Lancaster last season on loan from Preston North End, Marshall added: “ He is really good technically and a big strength is his versatility.”
