Morecambe boss Jim Bentley was delighted to see his side bounce back in style as they knocked Bury out of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Tuesday night.

Shaun Miller’s goal saw The Shrimps pick up a first win in five and end Bury’s seven-game winning streak with a 1-0 victory.

Bentley said: “It was just what we needed after the last couple of home games.

“We had nothing to lose tonight, we were playing against a very good side who are doing very well in their division.

“We knew our shape had to be good defensively and I think the desire, work rate, togetherness and spirit was there too.

“We got around each other and communicated well and shut out a very good Bury side on the night.

“Going forward it’s not a fluke that we’ve won tonight either.

“We had good chances and got into good areas and overall I’m absolutely made up.

“Whether it’s the JPT or whatever we treat any competition seriously. This is a big opportunity for clubs in League 1 and 2 to get to Wembley.

“We’ve bounced back in the right manner and the fans were superb.

“I’m absolutely made up for them because we’ve let them down recently.”
