Lancaster company offers free office health checks

A Lancaster heritage and sustainability consultancy is encouraging commercial office landlords and property managers to review the performance of their buildings.

Throughout October and November 2026, Woohoo is offering free building health checks to help property owners and managers identify where their office spaces may be wasting energy, increasing running costs or creating unnecessary maintenance expenses.

With commercial properties requiring ongoing investment and maintenance, poor building performance can place additional pressure on property budgets and affect the experience of those occupying the space.

Identifying these problems early can help landlords and property managers make informed decisions about building improvements, reduce unnecessary expenditure and better maintain their properties over the long term.

To access the free health check, landlords and property managers simply need to complete a short questionnaire and provide some basic information about their building.

Woohoo will then calculate how much a building of that scale should cost to run, compared to its actual running costs, highlighting potential inefficiencies in a one-page review.

A follow-up, on-site assessment can then help identify the causes of these issues, focusing on five key areas of building performance – running costs, keeping the water out, keeping the heat in, ventilation levels and building fabric conditions. This allows Woohoo to recommend practical solutions to fix, upgrade or adapt the building as required.

Woohoo's Sustainability Director, Simon Lock, said: “A lot of the problems we find in buildings aren’t obvious or considered important until somebody starts looking at the numbers.

"Energy bills might be higher than they need to be, heating and cooling systems can be fighting against each other, or relatively small defects can be creating bigger maintenance problems.

"We want to show building owners and users what is actually happening in their buildings and where it’s worth taking action to reduce energy consumption and bills.”

Woohoo is encouraging commercial landlords and property managers across Lancashire and Cumbria to take advantage of the free health checks and identify opportunities to reduce avoidable costs within their buildings.
