Morecambe continue their squad overhaul as former Barrow and Stockport County midfielder joins
Former Barrow AFC man becomes Morecambe’s latest signing.
Morecambe have confirmed another new face at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium following the signing of Elliot Newby.

The 30-year-old has agreed a two-year contract, with the option of a third year, after leaving Barrow AFC.
Newby had been linked with a close season move to the Shrimps, speculation which went up a notch after Barrow announced a mutual agreement to terminate his contract at the start of this week.
Morecambe manager Adam Lakeland said: “I’m delighted to bring Elliot to Morecambe.
“Having played the past couple of seasons in the EFL, we are adding yet more quality to our group, a player who is proven above the level we are going to be playing at next season.
“Elliot has achieved promotion out of this league previously, bringing a wealth of experience with him.
“I like how direct he is, how aggressive he likes to be with the ball at his feet, the way he carries the ball and, with two good feet, he will hopefully provide another source of goals for us in the form of both assists and goals.
“He bought into our ambition, the project and challenge ahead of us.”
Newby becomes the eighth signing announced by the Shrimps so far as Lakeland looks to build a squad capable of winning promotion from National League North next season.
A former youngster at Bolton Wanderers, Newby began his career at Barrow in 2015 before returning there eight years later.
The intervening period brought two spells with Altrincham, as well as moves to AFC Telford United, Chorley, Stockport County and FC Halifax Town.
In that time, he won the National League North play-offs with Chorley in 2018/19 and the National League title at Stockport in 2021/22.
Newby added: “With the statement of bringing Adam in as the manager and some of the signings, you can really tell that the club wants to push on in an upwards direction.
“I’m a creative player, I like to be positive on the ball and hopefully chip in with a few goals.”
