Lancaster City exited the FA Cup at the second qualifying round stage.

Lancaster City endured a day to forget at Bradford (Park Avenue) on Saturday as they were knocked out of the FA Cup, writes DAVID HALL.

The first big chance fell to Nathan Caine as a mix-up inside the box gave him an opportunity to lob the keeper, but his effort was just wide.

A flurry of corners followed, as well as a shout for handball on Marcus Carver, but the referee was not interested in the appeals.

City were made to pay for not capitalising on their early dominance as they went behind on 19 minutes.

Luke Parkin drove forward from midfield and calmly slammed his shot into the bottom corner.

The hosts would push for a second, Parkin trying an overhead kick which was blocked, and Rudy Misambo almost getting on the end of a corner.

Lancaster tried to get back into the game, Dylan Moonan finding space in the box on 28 minutes before seeing his shot blocked.

Dolly debutant Ben Jackson was put through on goal on 44 minutes and was seemingly brought down, which impeded the shot, but the referee waved play on.

Robbie Fox came close to scoring for Bradford just before half-time, rattling the woodwork.

The second half started in lively fashion with Carver having an effort blocked by Brad Moonan.

The back and forth continued as Joe Amison broke down the right but his cross was cleared before Steve Yawson could get on the end of it.

Bradford then went to the other end and Carver struck the bar with an audacious lob over Brad Kelly.

Although the clear-cut chances were few and far between, the better opportunities fell to City’s new signing Harry Evers, who was introduced as a substitute.

Next up for the Dolly Blues is Saturday’s trip to Cleethorpes Town in the FA Trophy.
