Ashvir Singh Johal seeks consistent Morecambe performances
Morecambe boss Ashvir Singh Johal says he is ‘laser focused’ on improving the club’s form as they get set for the second half of the season.
Sunday’s game at Brackley Town (12pm) will see the Shrimps hit the halfway point of the National League campaign, sitting in the bottom four and three points from safety.

Johal, who has faced criticism from Morecambe supporters in recent weeks, has his sights set on a much improved run-in.
Speaking after last Saturday’s much-needed FA Trophy victory at Gateshead, he said: “The weekend win was important for us because winning breeds winning and confidence breeds confidence – and that is why it was important we took Saturday’s game seriously and important we played to win.

“We treated it like a National League game as it was against a team in our league and it was a big win.
“My focus now is on the players. As head coach of the team, my job is to ensure more consistent performances and make sure the demands of the games are replicated in training.
“My focus is on giving them the best possible opportunity to put in the best performance and every ounce of energy I have got is working towards that.
“A lot of things have happened at the club in the past couple of weeks but, for me, it is laser focused to make sure the players are as prepared as possible for every game we have.”
Morecambe’s weekend win at Gateshead also saw a debut for keeper Myles Boney, who joined the club on non-contract terms.
The 27-year-old, who began his career at Blackpool, took his place in the starting line-up with Jamal Blackman and Archie Mair both unavailable.
Boney, who has also played for South Shields and Matlock Town, had been training with the first team for more than a month before featuring on Saturday.
A new kick-off time has also been confirmed for the Shrimps’ final match of the National League season on April 25, 2026.
Their game at Forest Green Rovers has been brought forward to 12.30pm from the original 3pm start time, as is the case across the rest of the National League as well as its northern and southern divisions.
