Morecambe sports and social club announces reopening date after 'urgent safety works'
A Morecambe sports and social club is to reopen this week.
The Trimpell Club closed its doors in August for “urgent safety works” but it was announced in September that there were now plans to reopen at the end of November.
"We have some amazing news...Trimpell Sports and Social Club has been saved!" said a post on The Trimpell's Facebook page at the time.
"After what has been an incredibly difficult and uncertain time, we are absolutely delighted to finally be able to share the news we’ve all been hoping for – our club has been saved!

However, a month earlier than originally planned, The Trimpell is now due to reopen on Friday October 30.
They posted on Facebook: “The countdown is on, Trimpell! We’re getting everything ready and can’t wait to open our doors and welcome our members and friends back to the club.
“It’s been a long few months, and we know how much everyone has been looking forward to getting back together.
"We’ve missed the laughs, the catch-ups, the familiar faces and the community spirit that makes Trimpell so special.

“We’re putting the final preparations in place and getting ready for a fresh start as we celebrate 70 years of Trimpell!
“Friday 30th October, opening from 4pm.
"We can’t wait to see you all. Let’s bring Trimpell back to life together!”
The club, which is in Out Moss Lane, shut on August 3, saying they were following local authority advice that urgent safety works were needed at the premises.

“We have been advised that urgent works are required within the club to ensure the safety of our members, customers, staff and visitors," said a statement at the time.
"The safety of everyone who uses the club is our absolute priority, and the last thing we would ever want to do is put anyone at risk.”
An online fundraising appeal was then launched in a bid to raise £60,000 to save the club, which raised almost £5,000.
Several meetings for members were later held at the club to discuss its future.
