Jayne Pearce, Business Leader at Lancaster and Morecambe Crematorium, said: “The grounds team and I attended the awards ceremony at Bolton Wanderers FC on the 20th of October and we were delighted and honoured to have received the Gold Award and overall Winners Award in the North West in Bloom Large Retail, Commercial or Industrial Park category.

“The team works exceptionally hard year-round in all weathers to maintain the beautiful, landscaped crematorium grounds for the families who come to reflect and remember their loved ones.

“Earlier this year, the team created a commemorative garden in honour of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations, with yellow flowers forming the shape of the Queen’s Royal Cipher, and flowers either side of this that read ‘1952’ and ‘2022’. We sourced the flowers from local garden centres to support our local community."

The crem also currently has a stunning Remembrance Day memorial which has been designed and created by groundsman, Andy Taylor. Local WI members kindly knitted the poppies that feature in the display, and Andy created the wall of poppies around the memorial to those who courageously gave their lives for their country.

Jayne added: “At Lancaster and Morecambe Crematorium, we’re here to serve people from our local communities at one of the most difficult times in their life, and I’m so exceptionally proud of the whole team for their dedication and compassion.”
