Lancaster village's country festival brings in £1k for cancer charity
The festival was a success in more ways than one...
Visitors to last month’s Lancashire Game & Country Festival at Woodacre Lodge Farm in Scorton helped to raise a £1,000 donation for Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Festival organiser Craig Whittingham invited a volunteer team from the charity to pitch a tombola stand at the event and also, at his May UK Truck and Tractor Pull, which is held at the same site.
The stand raised £825 over the two events, which Craig then topped up with a £175 donation of his own.
Sue Swire, fundraising manager for Rosemere Cancer Foundation, said: “Thank you to our volunteers, who ran the tombola stand over two full weekends, to everyone who chanced their luck by playing and to Craig, a longtime supporter, who donated the pitch space and then boosted our total to a nice round figure!”
Rosemere Cancer Foundation works to bring world class cancer treatments and services to cancer patients from throughout Lancashire and south Cumbria being treated at Rosemere Cancer Centre, Lancashire and south Cumbria’s regional specialist cancer treatment and radiotherapy centre at the Royal Preston Hospital, and also at another eight local hospital cancer units across the two counties.
The charity funds the latest in cutting-edge equipment, clinical research, staff training and innovative services and initiatives that the NHS cannot afford in order to make patients' cancer journey more effective, comfortable and stress-free.
