Craft shop unveils new artwork in Lancaster alley
“I love to add character and colour across Lancaster and this was a special design that I loved doing..."
A Lancaster shop has brightened up the alley in which it resides with some canine artwork.

When The Little Shop of Handmade Loveliness wanted to brighten up James Lane with some external artwork they knew who to ask.
Jan Beal, the shop owner, said: "I wanted to brighten up the shop’s external shutters which would brighten up James Lane when we were closed and I also wanted to give a special nod to my beautiful Jack Russell, Marmite.
“I had seen Lynette Parkinson's artwork across the city so it was an easy choice to make"
The brief was simple - capture Marmite, surround him in colourful flowers, shout "locally made" and create something that will make people smile.
Working in the evenings, once the shop had closed, Lynette set about her design and generated lots of interest as people made their way down James lane.
People loved what she was creating and many of them have already been back to see the finished product.
Jan said: "Lynette really understood what we wanted and made an instant connection with Marmite which I loved.
“Nothing was too much trouble and she really felt the love we feel in our lovely little shop. I can see and sense that in the finished piece."
Lynette said working with Jan and Marmite was fabulous.
“I had a brief to work with but Jan fully trusted me in capturing the love she has for her little shop and the enormous amount of affection she has for Marmite,” she said.
“I love to add character and colour across Lancaster and this was a special design that I loved doing."
Although you can only see the artwork when the shop closes, you can meet Marmite in person in the daytime as he works with Jan three days a week playing the role of a super cute ’meeter greeter’.
The shop opens Monday to Saturday 9.30am to 5pm and you can find Lynette Parkinson Art on social media
