Jolly Joe Purdy, 23, got hooked on the slapstick comedies as a child and for the last four years has made it his aim to see as many shows as he can. This season he upped his game and by the end of the month will have packed in a whopping 22 shows around his full-time job - at a cost of around £2,000. Panto producers who have heard about his mission were so impressed by his dedication he has been invited backstage to meet the cast at almost every venue this year.
Jolly Joe Purdy had more fun than most over the festive season - after watching 22 pantomimes, including Aladdin at The Grand in Lancaster.
The 23-year-old from Barrow got hooked on the slapstick shows as a child and now spends every weekend travelling around the country seeing as many performances as possible.
He packed in 22 shows at a cost of around £2,000.
Joe said: “Aladdin was definitely on a par with professional performances, with strong actors and good scenery. I love pantomimes.” Joe sees his 23rd pantomime this Saturday in Bradford.
