Lancaster team to take on marathon canalside walk to support Alzheimer's charity
A team from Chiptech UK, the Lancaster-based telecare and assistive technology provider, is preparing to take on a challenging 27-mile charity walk to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society.
The team will walk along the Lancaster Canal Towpath Trail from Kendal to Lancaster on Saturday October 24, covering a distance greater than a traditional marathon as they come together to support an important cause.
The challenge will test the team’s physical endurance and determination, while providing an opportunity to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s Society, which supports people living with dementia and their families.
By taking on the walk together, the team hopes to make a positive contribution to the charity’s work and help support those affected by dementia.

Joe Robinson, office mManager at Chiptech UK, said: “Taking on 27 miles is a massive challenge, but it’s for a cause that means a lot to us personally. Dementia is a devastating disease for people as well as their loved ones, and the work that Alzheimer’s Society do is vital to helping combat the disease.
“The walk is going to be long, gruelling, and we’ll need each other’s support to make it to the finish line, but we’re really looking forward to raising as much money as we can for Alzheimer’s Society. Every donation will help us make a difference.”
Penny Giles, local services manager for north Lancashire, Alzheimer’s Society, said: “A huge thank you to everyone at Chiptech for taking on this fantastic towpath challenge in support of Alzheimer’s Society. It’s wonderful to see a local company getting behind people affected by dementia in Lancaster and across North Lancashire.
“Every pound raised will help Alzheimer’s Society provide vital support to people living with dementia and their families, as well as funding groundbreaking research and campaigning for change. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone taking part and wish the team the very best for the challenge.”
