Athletics: Lancaster and Morecambe athletes race in Preston

Lancaster and Morecambe athletes attended the ever popular Preston 10 mile road race and first back for the club was John Carr with a strong effort of 1h.08.06 placing him 97th overall.

In next was Charlie Satterly running well in 1h.21.53, followed by Michael Roy in 1h.24.29.

Other finishers were: Eden Parkinson 1h.33.54, Linda Stapleton 1h.44.40, Emily Stapleton 1h.44.43.

There was a good turnout of club runners at the Wesham 10k road race and David Brown led the Lancaster runners back, finishing well up the field in eighth position with a cracking run of 34m.46. David was followed by Mark Holgate running a good time of 38m.27 and Angus Murray in 43m.41.

The ladies represented the club well with Carolyne Baxter taking first female prize with a superb effort of 38m.40 and she was well backed up by Jayne Perry who was fourth female with a strong run of 41m.43. Carole Wilkinson finished first in the veteran 55 category with a fine run of 50m.22.

Also taking first prize in their category was Evelyn Elkington taking the veteran 75 place with a super run of 1h.08.04.

Other finishers were: Steve Perry 45m.16, David Wilkinson 46m.36, Emily Stapleton 49m.05, Charlie Satterly 49m.05, Helena Lewis 50m.58, Linda Stapleton 1h.01.20 and Richard Stapleton 1h.13.07.
