Police closed Caton Road for an hour due to a man on the canal bridge near the Lune Aqueduct.

Police were called by the ambulance service at 11.30am on Wednesday saying there was a man on the bridge.

Officers attended the scene and spoke to the 24-year-old man, who came off the bridge at 11.50am.

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Caton Road was reopened at 12.30pm.
