February goals: Fall back in love with your body with fitness classes and gym sessions in Lancaster

Cupid goes hand in hand with Valentine’s Day, and is often linked to matters of the heart, but as a keen sportsman (archery counts!) there is literally another string to his bow – building stronger connections.

With fiery passion and affection, as befits the son of Venus and Mars, his goals chime in nicely with a local health club’s fitness theme for the month.

The team at 3-1-5 Health Club in Lancaster are turning love on its head this February and want members to fall in love with fitness and friendships.

With special offers if you bring a buddy along to fitness classes or gym sessions, they hope to help people find a passion for sport, a love of fitness, and new connections in a supportive community which is designed to help people live their healthiest lives.

And while this includes physical fitness, health club owner Sean Thornton says the connections, the sense of community and the friendships on offer are a crucial part of all round wellbeing.

He said: “We see for ourselves every day that people who don’t travel solo on their fitness journey often see improved results. It can be as simple as committing to go to class or training with a friend gives you an increased motivation to attend, but I think there’s more to it. People working out together and challenging one another have a shared goal, or even a competitiveness, that drives them on.

“And of course, spending more quality time with a loved one or close friend is high on most people’s wishlists, so this combines the two.”

At 3-1-5 Health Club there’s a host of sessions perfectly designed for a friends or couples to do together.

- Dancing: Fitsteps or Zumba you choose and get those feet moving to the rhythm you love – fitness!

- Yoga for two: Partner yoga brings a beautiful harmony to this already spiritual exercise, where couples can enhance trust and connection.

Sean added: “In the month when most marketing pushes red roses and candlelit dinners as the only way to find or express love, we say ‘do things differently’. Love your own body, and spend time making it feel better. Love spending time with friends or partners at the health club, focussing on healthier lifestyles. And love to unwind in our friendly community – grab a cuppa in the café or chill out in the spa and sauna to relax, unwind, and practice self-care.”
