The Folly have followed the fortunes of the 6th Battalion, Duke of Wellington’s Regiment. Many of the local lads joined the 6th and so with the aid of the war diaries, have been with them during the German Spring Offensive when the war was nearly lost. The 6th hung on, but on a dreadful day on April 14 at Nieppes, they were forced to retire, losing 65 men with 211 wounded.

The Long Last Mile WW1 exhibition at the Folly Settle runs until December 22. The Folly is open daily 1pm to 4 pm and entry charge is £2 with 16 and unders free.
