A comedy performance at the Heron Theatre in Beetham tomorrow night, Friday, is described as “a wickedly wry study of arrogance and insecurity”.

Actor’s Apology, by John Cargill Thompson, and adapted by Dean Taylor, focusses on the life of eighteenth century actor Frederick Cooke.

Cooke is asked to apologise for his onstage drunkenness during a performance of Richard III, promising he “will die first”and so begins his life story.

Tickets are £10/£5 children, from 01539 64283.
