Final voyage at Dukes

The cast and crew of The Dukes set sail to Treasure Island for the last time on January 5.

Since embarking on its maiden voyage in November, Treasure Island has welcomed thousands of people aboard.

And the decision to stage the Christmas show in The Round for the first time has proved popular too with audiences getting closer to the action.

The Robert Louis Stevenson classic tale of adventures on the high seas has been given a local twist, beginning on the shores of Morecambe Bay, and the modern retelling has seen Jim Hawkins being replaced by a girl, Jem, played by former Waterloo Road actress, Nisa Cole.

This new adaptation was penned by Coronation Street scriptwriter, Debbie Oates, and the original songs by Carol Donaldson have proved a particular hit with audiences who have been singing them as they leave the Lancaster theatre.
