November brings a wide variety of musical experiences to the Lancaster district, if you know where to look.
Light Up Lancaster will have a musical element, with Firey Lights showcasing some unusual instruments and set ups within the castle’s walls.
The walk around event is free and starts when it goes dark.
The week after – November 13 – Lancaster Music Co-op continues to celebrate its 30th anniversary year with a show at the Yorkshire House. And who else to headline but The Lovely Eggs?
Playing in the city for the first time this year, the duo will be joined by Two For Joy, Totally Radical Dude and DJ Simon Norfolk.
November 14 sees a full on line up at the Yorkshire House, with Manchester ska-punk heavyweights John Player Specials taking to the stage. Support comes from Wadeye, Joe Yorke, Arcane Winter, Jessi Eastfield and The Lab Rats.
The Golden Lion has released its Saturday night line ups for November, starting with Manfredis on November 7 and continuing with an alternative music night from Supersonic DJs on November 14, the Howling Clowns on November 21 and the popular Funky Lion, Lancaster’s mon- thly funk and soul night with DJ Jahvis on November 28.
Steve Lewis’ Deep Cabaret return to the Lancaster fold this month with three shows.
The band – featuring Maja Bugge on cello, Steve Lewis on vocals and guitar, Ben McCabe on drums, Matt Robinson on bass clarinet, Paul Sherwood on hurdy gurdy & bagpipes and Jay Stilwell on overtone vocals – will play the Spotlight Club at The Storey on November 20, the Golden Lion on November 26 and The Hall in China Street on December 11.
Meanwhile Sue Parish and her trio return to Sam Ashton’s Jazz in Hornby on November 20, while Price of My Pig perform for a ceilidh at Halton Mill in Halton.
And last but by no means least, Joan Armatrading performs her rescheduled show at Lancaster Grand on November 23.
