Philip James Turner and the Crow Mandala impressed music industry judges at a Battle of the Bands competition in Blackburn this week.
The Morecambe based alt-country quintet secured their place in the final of the Reidys Exposure competition, after performing three stand out tracks at the town’s Blakey’s Bar on Wednesday night, March 12.
They went up against eight other acts from across the North West, with some strong competition from an array of musical genres.
Preston based Skinny Wrist Gumbo also made it through to the final, which will be held at at the Windsor Suite at King George’s Hall, Blackburn on March 26, following the final heat on March 18.
Judges Pete Eastwood, Karen Boardman, Paul Winstanley, Jeff Thompson and Alison Surtees said they faced some tough decisions due to the quality of the acts on the night, but did not hesitate when announcing the winners.
Prizes for winners include a music video, single release, equipment, and festival appearances.
The band are Philip James Turner, guitar and vocals, Anthony Gregson, bass, Adam Lucas, drums, and Graham Simpson, keys.
