More Music is celebrating the arrival of spring with ‘That Spring Thing!’, a new community event in Morecambe’s West End on Sunday April 24.
Taking place outside the Hothouse on Devonshire Road from 1pm to 4pm in the West End Garden of Splendour, ‘That Spring Thing!’ will be a wonderful free neighbourhood party of planting, music from the Baybeat Streetband, food, making things and storytelling.
The party carries on from 6pm upstairs at the Hothouse with more fabulous music from Red Hippo featuring sousaphone, Irish whistle, sax and strings and even more stories to join in with from Gary Bridgens and Dolly.
Tickets for the evening event cost £5, residents of the West End (postcodes LA3 and LA4) are eligible for £2 tickets.
The day before acclaimed singer-songwriter Rozi Plain will be playing at More Music’s Hothouse on Saturday (doors 7.30pm). Support comes from Yama Warashi and Lancaster-based songwriter Dan Haywood.
Regularly heard on BBC6 Music, Rozi performed at their 2016 festival and at numerous live sessions for Marc Riley and Lauren Laverne. Her new album ‘Friend’ was released in May 2015 to critical acclaim. As a member of This Is The Kit, she has toured widely including several dates around Europe. Tickets cost £8 (£6 concessions) in advance and £10 (£8 concessions) on the door. Booking at www.moremusic.org.uk/rozi-plain.
