Lancaster’s unique party in a prison experience returns this weekend with two events set to get the blood cells bubbling.

When it comes to disco Dimitri from Paris is a genuine authority – a gentleman DJ who loves an image yet eschews spectacle in favour of fastidiously executed musical selections drawing on four decades of glorious music.

A global and hugely popular DJ for no other reason than he can educate and create a real party at the same time, Dimitri is a modern-day maestro who has fans that span the spectrum, from ‘heads’ to occasional musical thrill seekers.

DJ support at Lancaster Castle A-Wing tomorrow night, Friday February 13, comes from Kid Blast and Jamie Scahill.

It was DJing that gave 36-year-old Dimitri his start more than a decade ago, when the European radio station CFM hired him to mix records on the air.

Because of what he describes as a lack of dance remixers in France, his career in radio led to his being asked to rework tracks for various artists, among them Björk, New Order, and the Brand New Heavies. Along the way he was hired by chic fashion designers like Chanel, Gaultier, and Lagerfeld to put together soundtracks for runway shows and boutiques.

Tickets, priced £25, are available from Tickets, priced £25, are also still available for the Hacienda DJs show with Graeme Park, Mike Pickering and Tom Wainright at the castle on Saturday night. Doors open for both at 9pm, until 3am. Last entry is 10pm.
