The landlords of a city centre live music venue say they will object to plans to build residential properties next door.
Proposals to buid a three storey building on vacant land next to The Pub, in China Street, have been submitted to Lancaster City Council.
The plans, put forward by Ashby Properties, include ground floor shop or office space, and two two-bedroom apartments on the two floors above.
A previous application for a similar proposal on the vacant space between The Pub and JDG Estate Agents had lapsed.
Debbi Pegram, who has been proprietor of The Pub for nine years, said there were big issues with the application. She said: “We will be objecting to it as we are an established live misic venue and building homes next to us could cause problems with people complaining about noise.
“Also it would block all natural light from the back of our premises.
“We would not approve of any structure adjoining our building.
“We deliberatly bought the pub in a non residential area so as not to have problems with noise.
“In the nine years we have been here we have never had any complaints.”
