Right about now, like me, you might be projecting yourself forward several months to longer, warmer days, balmy nights, and the pure, simple pleasure of enjoying live music outside.

Promoters and organisers are now busy putting together programmes and running orders for the summer music festivals, and bands and musicians will be touting their musical wares and filling up their tour diaries for the summer.

As well as the major UK music festivals, there’s also been a massive increase in smaller events right across the country, and we’ve got our fair share here in the Lancaster and surrounding area.

This is by no means an exhaustive list, but here is just a snippet for your diary, and some personal reccommendations from me...

North Lancs Soul Festival, Morecambe. May 17. Tickets now on sale. Nice n’ Sleazy Punk Festival, Trimpell Club, Morecambe. May 23 - 25. Lancaster Live Festival, Vale of Lune Rugby Club. May 25. Line-up to be confirmed.

Ravenstonedale Festival, Kirkby Stephen: June 20 - 22. Tickets now available. Some acts confirmed.

Beatherder Festival, Ribble Valley: July 18-20. Tickets now on sale and line-up due to be announced this week.

Tutti Frutti Festival, Morecambe. July 26. Larks in the Park, Williamson Park. July 27. Line up to be announced.

Kendal Calling Festival, Lowther Deer Park, Cumbria: August 1 - 3.

Halton Festival, Halton: August 9, free during the day, tickets in the evening. Evening acts now booked.
