Enjoy the Sounds of Summer with a two day musical extravaganza in Lancaster city centre this August Bank Holiday.

Musicians will take centre stage on the newly created plinth and performance space in Market Square, with performances kicking off at 2pm on Sunday August 24 with Kirkby Lonsdale Brass Band.

The event aims to draw shoppers into the heart of the Business Improvement District area, and encourage them to linger throughout the day and into the evening.

Lancaster indie rockers The Hairpiece Suite, who are garnering a big following locally, take to the stage between 3.30pm - 4.30pm with Manchester reggae heavyweights Jeramiah Ferrari onstage at 5pm.

From 8pm catch Get Carter and Convulsions go back to back, and Preston’s Templebys bring the night to a close from 10pm with soul and deep funk.

The music continues on the Monday, August 25, with Lancaster’s award winning Haffner Orchestra, from 2pm, Manchester’s guitar virtuoso Franco and The Dreadnought, from 3pm, and Kendal’s world/reggae/celtic four piece Roomful of Mirrors closing proceedings at 4.30pm until 5.30pm.
