A popular city nightspot is to re-open thanks to a £40,000 investment by a trio of Lancaster University graduates.

Mojo will open on September 19 in the former Toast premises in North Road following an extensive refurbishment.

The work has included the installation of cutting edge sounds and lighting.

Former uni graduate Edward Matthews will act as operations manager for the new venture.

He said: “We have ambitious plans to bring national UK talent to the city to perform at the venue including renowned DJ’s and artists.

“The business hopes to work with other local nightclubs to rebuild the nightclub industry community to provide the city with an improved experience.

“Mojo has developed a varied entertainment programme aimed at catering for both the local and student markets.

“Lancastrians can keep up to date at www.mojonightclub.co.uk or by following Mojo’s social media on Facebook: facebook.com/mojouk and Twitter: @mojoclubuk.”

The nightclub space has changed hands a number of times over the past few years, and has been known as Elemental, Toast and Dirty Buddha.

Most recently it was known as 5ives, after opening in August 2014 under new management.
