Fear grips Lancaster as a group of extreme activists holds the city to ransom.
The extremists’ wish is to end the monarchy and return all the wealth obtained by them to the people of the country.
The scene is set for Boys To Men, an explosive new novel by former sailor and psychiatric nurse Robert J. Watson and electrician John B. Atkinson.
The pair met when John was doing some work at Robert’s house about a year ago.
Robert said: “John had an idea for a book and came to see me about it so we sat down and had a chat and we worked on the idea.”
Salvation in the book comes in the form of a group of cadets from the local grammar school who come to the city’s rescue ensuring Lancaster is liberated once and for all.
We’ve used a couple of the characters that were there last year – they should be able to pick themselves out!
The cadets assist the regular forces in finding a way to take out the bad guys. And to add to the thrills, the enemy has a nuclear weapon.
John, who served in the army for six-and-a-half years and is a cadet officer, revealed how some of the cadets themselves star in the book.
He said: “They’re really excited. We’ve used a couple of the characters that were there last year – they should be able to pick themselves out!”
All royalties from the novel will go to Lancaster Royal Grammar School and the combined cadet force based there.
Local radio also plays a part in the plot when The Bay steps up its public service role to new heights in efforts to keep residents – desperate for information – informed against the odds.
Boys To Men launched online at Amazon in February and you can buy copies at www.thebay.co.uk
