A New Zealand dance company will travel to Heysham Library to host a free dance workshop this month.
Java Dance Company, based in Wellington, will travel to Heysham Library on Wednesday July 13 to hold the workshop from 10am until 4pm. The day is open to dancers of all abilities and is free.
It will be run by Java Dance’s artistic director Sacha Copland and will be a combination of dance, acting and voice and is open to anyone aged 14 or over.
Sacha will teach a basic dance sequence and work with the group to create patterns, movement and interaction.
This event has been organised by Spot On Lancashire as an addition to their spring season, taking professional arts events to rural venues and libraries across the county.
Speaking ahead of the workshop, Spot On’s Sue Robinson said: “We’re delighted to welcome Java Dance back to Lancashire following their performances of ‘Back of the Bus’ in 2015.
“This is an incredible opportunity for anyone with an interest in dance to take part in a workshop run by an internationally renowned dancer, and it’s all absolutely free!
“We’re expecting this to be a popular event so we strongly advise booking your place as soon as possible,” Sue added.
Places must be booked with library staff in person or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
