An author and former journalist will be signing her debut novel at a festive fair in Carnforth.
Marilyn Chapman’s ‘Baggy Pants & Bootees’ tells the story of war baby Sophie who joins the macho world of 1960s journalism where she is determined to prove that she is one of the boys.
Then an out of the blue phone call from her estranged mother sets Sophie on a quest to discover the secret of her birth.
Helped by the charming but mysterious David, Sophie uncovers a heartbroken wartime orphan, a GI romance and a terrifying rape which leads to an innocent man’s court martial. Marilyn from Lancashire will be at Greenlands Farm Christmas Craft and Food Fair on November 15 and 16 from 10am to 4pm, along with members of Carnforth Bookworms reading group.
A former reporter for our sister newspapers the Blackpool Gazette and Lytham St Annes Express, Marilyn will also be joined at the event by her daughter Amy, a former unit manager at Rising Stars – The children’s Place, Firbank Centre, Lancaster.
