‘Little White Lies and Butterflies’ by local author Suzie Tullett has been shortlisted for The Guardian’s Not the Booker Prize 2013.
This is the first year that a chick lit novel has made the shortlist for the prize according to The Guardian blog comments.
Born and raised in Lancashire, Suzie has worn many hats in life – from office work and teaching to managing an advice center and being an outreach worker for Women’s Aid.
She has achieved a Bachelor’s and a Master’s and works with the BBC as a scriptwriter – all while raising her family.
Her second book, ‘Little White Lies and Butterflies’, tells the story of child of the 90s, Lydia Livingston. While most women her age have spent years climbing the corporate ladder, Lydia’s made a career out of bagging her perfect man.
Now almost 30 and still single, Lydia banishes herself off to a distant land—all in the hope of finding a new direction.
