Tickets selling fast for Olivier award winner

Organisers say tickets are selling fast to see double Olivier Award winner, Barbara Dickson.

Barbara will be performing at the Platform in Morecambe on Saturday June 25.

In 1985 Barbara’s single ‘I Know Him So Well,’ recorded with Elaine Paige and taken from the musical ‘Chess,’ It reached number one in the UK and went on to become a top 10 hit around the world, eventually selling more than 900,000 copies.

Further hits followed, but in the early 1990s Barbara began to move away from pop and back towards her roots in folk and acoustic music, which she has continued to this day.As an actress she appeared in roles for leading TV dramas ‘Taggart’, ‘Band of Gold’ and ‘The Missing Postman’ She also starred in ‘Spend, Spend, Spend,’ for which she was awarded ‘Best Actress in a Musical’ at the 2000 Laurence Olivier Awards.

She will be joined on stage in Morecambe by Nick Holland. Barbara and Nick work as a ‘duo’ where she plays guitar and piano, with Nick performing on the keyboard and adding harmonies to Barbara’s vocals. They have performed this way in numerous venues including cathedrals, festivals and theatres.

“It’s a different experience to working with the bigger band,” said Barbara, “but just as enjoyable and gives the music breathing space.”
