Ruby Wax to visit Lancaster

Following on from the sell-out success of her one woman show Sane New World, much loved comedian, author and mental health campaigner Ruby Wax presents a special new tour '“ Frazzled: A Forum For Discussion.

Ruby will teach audiences how to combat the modern day problem of stress with mindfulness techniques.

With the help of a guest interviewer, and a bit of input from the audience, Wax promises a fantastically entertaining show which will be conversational as well as being funny, insightful and useful, delving deeper into the whys and wherefores of mindfulness.

She said: “The forum is an opportunity to engage in discussion with me to explore further the power of mindfulness practice and how it can be applied in daily life.

‘Frazzled! A Guide to Mindfulness’ will be coming to the Lancaster Grand Theatre on Tuesday May 10 at 7.30pm.

Ruby Wax is a US born comedian, actor and writer based in the UK. She has also become a mental health campaigner and gained a Masters degree in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy from Oxford University.

She began her acting career with the Royal Shakespeare Company and went on to write and perform in her own hugely popular television programmes for the BBC and Channel 4 and was Script Editor on all series’ of Absolutely Fabulous.

The 63-year-old will be awarded an OBE for her services to mental health in the Honorary British Awards to Foreign Nationals. Wax has campaigned tirelessly to raise awareness about mental health issues, including becoming a patron for the British Neuroscience Association and a number of charities, bringing mental health issues to the foreground in Parliament through work at the Home Office and speaking at Downing Street to raise money for neuroscience research.

She has also become a leading speaker on mental issues including appearances at The Home Office, MI5, Apple, the House of Lords, plus various UK National Health Trusts and charities.
