Lancaster witches triple toil trouble

Cast members for the popular Witches of Eastwick which is coming to the Lancaster Grand have been on many roller coaster journeys ahead of the show.

The play, performed by Lancaster Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society (LADOS), is set in the tiny New England town of Eastwick, Rhode Island.

It follows three modern day witches who innocently plot and conjure over a heady brew of weak martinis, but when their longings are made fresh in the arrival of Darryl Van Horne, all hell breaks loose. For many of the society members rehearsals have been exciting, challenging and surprising.

Karen Fay is playing the part of bossy housewife Felicia. Little did Karen know when she booked her trip to New York that she would be meeting up with the actor Rachel Izen who played the very same part in the London production.

When Paul Atkinson, an LADOS member, found out Karen was going to New York and had tickets for ‘Les Miserables,’ featuring Rachel, he jumped on the idea of them meeting up. Karen said: “It was a real thrill to meet Rachel anyway but to be able to discuss the part of Felicia was a real bonus.”

The Witches of Eastwick, a musical comedy, will be at Lancaster Grand from Tuesday May 3 to Saturday May 7 at 7.30pm with a maintnee at 2.30pm on Saturday. Tickets cost £10-£12 on 01524 64695.
