Youngsters get chance to shine on Globe Arena pitch

Pupils from two primary schools got a chance to play on the big stage on Saturday.

Lancaster Road Primary School were 1-0 winners over Bolton-le-Sands during half-time of Morecambe’s goalless draw with Tranmere Rovers at the Globe Arena on Saturday.

Alex Macmillan got the only goal of the game from the penalty spot as the Morecambe school won the won the local final of the Football League Kinder+Sport Kids Cup.

The teams were cheered on by crowds in the Omega Holidays Stand and North Terrace with the end-to-end clash settled by a single goal.

The Football League competition gives schools the chance to progress all the way to Wembley, where the Grand Final takes place in May.

Lancaster Road will now represent Morecambe FC in the Regional Finals, which take place at Globe Arena in March.
