Four swimmers from Carnforth Otters achieved qualifying times for the British Gas National Age Group and Youth Swimming Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

First to swim were 13-year-old Jessica Shatford and William Ritchie, 14, who produced personal best times in the 100m breaststroke events.

William went on to swim in the Open Water Championships where he won Bronze in the 1500m, his performances seeing him selected for the England Talent Development Programme.

Jessica has been selected to represent Lancashire, and she will compete for them in the National Inter County Championships in October in Sheffield.

She joins team mate Josh Thompson, who along with Rachel Ritchie, travelled to Sheffield to compete in the Youth Championships.

Josh had good swims in the 100m breaststroke event and Rachel saw a great return to form with some impressive swims.

Josh has also been selected to represent the North of England in the UK Schools Games to be held in Sheffield from September 12 to 15.
