Win, loss and a draw for hockey girls

Lancaster 3rds 2 - Chorley 2 Lancashire Central Women’s League Division One

YET again Lancaster 3rds started their game with a goal in the first 10 minutes and yet again from Bunch from a penalty corner.

Missing key players from the squad gave youngsters an opportunity to excel themselves and some exciting passing and moving stretched Chorley.

Lancaster were unlucky not to score again from Maddocks who narrowly put the ball the wrong side of the post after a wonderful drive down the wing and a well-struck ball across the D by Woods.

Horner, Banks and Latham settled well in defence and Jameson dominated the centre with some great tackles. Lavelle was on hand to clear any balls from the goal line and Lancaster settled in the middle with Bunch and Singleton moving the ball forward at every opportunity.

Lancaster came out into the second half and a superb ball through the middle saw Hudson picking up the ball and slotting it neatly into the back of the net.

Cross worked hard down the wing and was denied a goal from a good clearance.

Chorley claimed back a goal from a penalty corner and followed quickly with another after a goalmouth scramble. Lancaster pushed hard right up to the final whistle and a 2–2 draw finally saw them getting a point onto the league table.

Lancaster 3rds: Izzy Lavelle, Lottie Horner, Jen Banks, Antonia Altham, Justine Latham, Nicola Jameson, Ellyse Maddocks, Ailsa Bunch, Emily Woods, Jaz Hudson, Amy Cross and Alex Bush.
