Lancaster’s rising mixed martial arts star has been nominated for two big awards.

After an excellent 12 months Shay Walsh is up for the Fighter of the Year and Fight of the Year gongs as part of BAMMA’s 2015 awards.

Walsh picked up wins over Gaz Pilot and Ed Arthur this year as he made waves in the major British promotion with more big fights set to follow in 2016.

The Arthur fight, which saw the Lancaster man lift the BAMMA Bantamweight title in Birmingham last month via a unanimous points decision, is the contest amongst those nominated for fight of the year.

Martin Stapleton, Tom DuQuesnoy, Paul Craig and Cheick Kone are also nominated for fighter of the year.

Lancaster and Morecambe MMA fighter Walsh is reaping the rewards of training in the prestigious Tiger Muay Thai gym out in Phuket, Thailand for several months of the year.

Voting is open now HERE and closes on Thursday, December 31 with the winners announced shortly after.
