Vale prepare for clash with Eccles after another game is called off

The Vale of Lune have recently been dealt an ace and a king, out of the North One West pack but the jack remained hidden because a frozen pitch caused the postponement of their home game against Warrington, bringing the total of fixtures that now have to be replayed up to three.

The Vale will now be preparing for their Saturday visit to eighth in North One West, Eccles, who are currently one point above them.

Like the Vale, Eccles have won six games but suffered a heavy defeat at Powderhouse Lane at the beginning of October, 51-0.

Vale found it far from comfortable playing Eccles last season. Over at Gorton Street, in the second game of the campaign, they stuttered to 28-21 victory but lost the return game 7-0.

Last season Eccles proved to be a very a resilient club when after losing their opening nine North One West games, they gradually clawed their way out of the relegation zone but there was little room to spare, and they were constantly looking over their shoulders.

Nothing can be taken for granted by the Vale when they travel to Greater Manchester on Saturday, if they are anticipating a cakewalk they could be in for a shock.

Eccles have won their last two games and appear to be the team in form, and apart from their postponed game at Leigh last Saturday, have suffered no disruptions to their season.
