Tyson Fury’s fight with Wladimir Klitschko has been postponed.

The Morecambe giant’s clash with the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world was set for October 24 in Dusseldorf.

The Ukrainian however partially tore his left calf in training on Thursday meaning the fight for the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO titles has been put back just two days after Fury stunned onlookers by storming into a London press conference dressed as Batman.

Fury’s trainer and uncle Peter Fury is however remaining positive with a new date, likely in mid to late November, set to be announced next week.

He said: “It was a shock but what can we do?

“We’ve just got to keep on with what we’ve been doing.

“It looks like it’s only going to be a short while and I’m sure the fight will happen.

“Now we’re looking at mid to late November.”

It is not the first time Fury has seen an opponent injured ahead of a fight with both David Haye and Derek Chisora having to postpone fights with the outspoken former British and European champion over the last couple of years.

Peter Fury said: “It’s never ideal and you obviously don’t want these things to happen.

“It looks like Klitshcko will be back training in the next couple of week though.

“Everything’s going well. We’re on target, looking forward to the fight and we’re ready.”

In a statement Klitschko said: “Especially after the exciting press conference last Wednesday, I was looking forward to this fight very much.

“I know that a lot of fans have already organized their trips to support me in Düsseldorf. I am so sorry that I am not able to fight on October 24.

“I also apologize to my opponent, who has spent many weeks preparing for this fight. I will do my very best to recover as fast as possible.”

The rescheduled fight will be at the same venue, the ESPRIT arena in Düsseldorf.
