Tremendous swimmers Rock rivals at gala

Swimmers from Lancaster City Swimming and Water Polo Club were in tremendous form at the recent Blackpool Rocks Gala.

Heidi Coldwell (10), Amelia Sykes (15) and Elizabeth Wareing (9) starred in winning the best overall girls in their age groups over the two days of competition.

In addition to the champion award Elizabeth Wareing won gold in the 50m breaststroke to add to 6 silver medals and 2 bronze in her events in a stunning performance with PB`s as well.

Heidi Coldwell swam consistently in all her races with several personal best performances and took home a gold in the 200m individual medley with a silver and two bronze medals as well.

Amelia Sykes was in great form winning gold medals in the 50m breaststroke and the 200m freestyle to add to a silver and two bronze in other events with PBs in addition.

Aidan Duffin (9) won gold in the 100m breaststroke to add to four silver medals and PBs in his races with Amy Shaw ( 14) outstanding in winning golds in the 50m and 200m breaststroke with a silver in the 100m final also with PBs.

Rio Quarry( 13) produced another excellent set of results with gold in the 100m freestyle, silver in the 200Im and bronze on the 50m backstroke, and his brother Isaac (10) won silver in the 200m and 50m breaststroke events with personal best times.

Harry Shaw (12) was also in fine form with a bronze in the 50m backstroke.

Collectively it was another strong set of results for Lancaster with Malachy Duffin, Hannah Eaton, Daniel Leach, Charlie Colville, John Powell, Dylan Price, Larissa Hannam, Emily Wilson, Amy Peacock, Charlotte Peacock, Holly Satterly, Daisy Pollit, Katie Wilson, Pippa Dunk and Jessica Loxam, competing in all the age groups and achieving PBs.
