Tough two days in league and cup for Torrisholme

The hosts were staring defeat in the face against Croston on Saturday, sitting on 98-8 chasing 169 to win with just eight balls remaining in the match.

But heavy rain at Boundary Meadow ensured the game came to an agonising end for the visitors who looked to be closing in on victory.

Torrisholme had given themselves a good chance at 73-2, Daniel Woods making 40, but collapsed with Lee Childs the chief destroyer, taking 7-22.

Earlier captain Matt Jackson had taken 3-41 after putting Croston into bat on winning the toss.

Sam Marsh top scored with 42 in their 168-8 before being dismissed by Jack Heap.

The no result leaves Torrsiholme second from bottom of the table.

Jackson’s men did go down to a heavy defeat on Sunday, exiting the Meyler Cup at the hands of league leaders Vernon Carus.

The hosts posted an imposing 257-5 batting first, Craig Cameron making 84 and James McDonagh 80.

In reply Torrisholme slipped to 84 all out as Paul Hayton took 4-19.

Adam Bee top scored with 33 at the visitors came up 173 runs short of their target.
